Early pregnancy: That is a good question. Cramping in the first trimester as well as a small amount of spotting may be normal. The pain should only be mild and if it severe she should be seen. The concern may be if you have not had an ultrasound to confirm a pregnancy in the uterus, then there is always a small risk of an ectopic or tubal pregnancy which can present with pain.
