Probably not: What happens to the vocal chords that make the whistle voice is not completely understood. Pain or hoarseness or loss of notes you were previously able to use are signs of something wrong. Poor vocal technique can damage the voice in any register. Professional singers sometimes get vocal chord nodules, swelling, dystonia. Common sense and good warmup can help prevent problems.
