Possible not ideal: Don't stop Suboxone without doctor's guidance and taper, and not to be on if you want to get pregnant. Also not ideal to be on for extended periods.

Yes: For some with very severe addictions covering many years, staying on Suboxone may be warranted. For example, in the case of someone taking such high doses of opiates they could die if they relapsed (i have has patients who took 60 or more lortabs per day, or 800 mgs of oxycodone for day). Suboxone is not a cure, but rather-it is part of the harm reduction model. Suboxone does save lives.

USUALLY NOT THE PLAN: Typically used to help get off drugs not as a permanent substitution. At least will try to get to the lowest dose possible.
