What is choleastoma?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ear problem: Cholesteatoma is "tumor" resulting usually from buildup of debris from skin cells that collect in cavities inside the mastoid bone, adjacent to the ear canals. The cells break down, leaving cholesterol-like debris which can erode adjacent structures and occasionally penetrate through the skull into the cranial cavity. This condition is rarely seen in the us nowadays due in part to modern imaging.
