What could you do with a broken wrist?

Cast vs. surgery: Treatment will largerly depend on the location of the fracture and its complexity. Certain wrist bones must be surgically united, whereas other may be easily casted. Your orthopedic specialist should be able to explain what the best next step is.

Depends: Nondisplaced fractures need to be immobilized with a cast or brace. Dusplaced fractures need surgery and may take 2-3 months before you get lift or use the hand a gain to any significant degree.

See an Ortho surgeon: If your wrist is broken you need to have it fixed by an orthopedic hand surgeon. They will get a x-ray and possibly special tests and either set the fracture with a cast or operate on it if necessary.

ER: Get to an er asap. Elevate the wrist above heart level and splint in a neutral posture. Ice.
