Treat Chlamydia: Erythromycin treatment does not work as well as the other recommended antibiotics. It is cheap and can be used in pregnancy. Its disadvantages are its lengthy dosing (four times daily), gastrointestinal disturbance which leads to discontinuation, and a less than 95% efficacy.
