A member asked:

Is a stool screening for cancer the same as colonosty if so why?

Colonoscopy is the: Gold standard. Stool screening for occult blood, (fobt) is a screening test that is neither very sensitive nor specific. Unless there is a family history of colon cancer at an early age, a person should get first colonoscopy at age 50.

Different: Stool screening is for presence of traces of blood not seen by naked eye, as tumors bleed. Colonoscopy ( hope that is what you meant ) is visualising in side the colon where you can see polyps . Cancer and other diseases.
