If you let him: Pre-teen is an age of testing. Children that age are just becoming aware of how they relate to parents and to others. They often test parents to see what they can get away with. They are trying to learn the limits and the tolerances of others. You need to help them learn appropriate behavior.

Need more info: Typically-developing children begin to self-calm at 18 months of age and learn more mature coping skills as they age. If he still has two-year-old style tantrums, a behavioral therapist can help him develop more age-appropriate ways to deal with frustration.

Depends: To answer your question need to know how often this is occurring, is it a new problem, how severe are the tantrums and what precipitates them. With this information, speak to your pediatrician. It is not uncommon for a child to have occasional temper tantrums.
