How long must you stay on levothyroxine after your hypothyroidism is under control?

Usually for life: Since levothyroxine is a thyroid hormone replacement, hypothyroidism is controlled with continuous treatment with replacement therapy. Once dose is adjusted properly- the condition is "under control" and the medication must be continued to maintain that control. It is a treatment not a cure.
