May be fungal: Various fungal spores can be passed from the soil, people or pets to a human finger & that finger can scratch it into the scalp where it grows into the hair roots & surrounding tissues.The sx you cite could also be germs. It is time to have a dr look at this & see.Either will likely need prescription medicines.
