Skin Hygiene Key: Eczema caused by chronic inflammation of skin. Can get better over time or can be a lifelong condition. Take good care of your skin and eczema should be kept under control. Avoid long hot showers and harsh, drying cleansers. Apply fragrance-free moisturizer like Vanicream twice a day. For eczema flares, apply prescription strength corticosteroid ointments to problem areas twice a day until clear.
