Marinol (dronabinol): Marinol is a synthetic oral preparation of delta-thc. It's a controlled substance requiring a prescription for specific conditions such as severe chemotherapy-associated nausea & vomiting; anorexia from cancer/aids; intractable cholestatic pruritis. Side effects include postural hypotension, tachycardia, hypertension; CNS issues, etc. Tolerance to its effects develops. Caution w/liver disease.

Ask your Dr: Marinol (dronabinol) is a legal prescription in the us for the treatment of nausea/vomiting related to chemotherapy, or for aids-associated appetite loss or weight loss. Cesamet (nabilone) is also legal to prescribe for n/v from chemo. Both are expensive and use is limited by insurance co's.
