Proper diet: If you know the type of stone you can then determine what to do. Is it a cal oxilate, uric acid or cholesterl stone?

Hydration: The specific stone composition will determine the specific therapy, however hydration will always decrease your risk of stone formation. Stones are crystals that fall out of solution, the more diluted your utine the lower the risk you can form a stone.
