A member asked:

I blink aggressively a lot and tend to have the urge to rotate/flex muscles in my shoulder, and have since i was a teenager. could this be a minor case of turrets?

I suppose: I would want to see a repetitive issue involving your airways like throat clearing, sniffing, a cough, or vocalization to label it a tourette process. Most cases don't involve people yelling out swear words like on tv. A chronic tic disorder might be an appropriate label.

Motor Movement Disor: Have you had many strep infections? If so, this could be a manifestation of pandas. There is a spectrum of motor movement disorders from minimal to full blown tourette's. If these tics are intrusive you can be treated with effective medications with minimal side effects.

Possibly: Schedule an evaluation with your primary care physician to examine you and evaluate this. It is certainly possible. Do your friends notice this? Does it affect you at work? Does it affect your relationships? Can you suppress it? If you are diagnosed with Turret's Syndrome, treatment will depend on the answers to these questions. Good Luck!
