A member asked:

I take 200 mg of serequil prescribed as part of my bi-polar meds. i find that it puts me to sleep reliably at night but i wake up at 1:00 or 2:30 am each night. i wonder if i took more seroquil at that time, if i would be likely to sleep through the nig

Maybe: For many the sedating effects of seroquel (quetiapine) max out at around 200 mg. It is possible by increasing the dose, you could increase the peak blood level so the medication may stay in your system at a higher level longer resulting in sustained sleep. Another option is seroquel (quetiapine) xr, an extended-release preparation. Speak to your physician about these options.

Good versus bad: Sedation is an occurrence with seroquel (quetiapine). It tends to be dose related meaning more likely at higher dosages. Unwanted effects of higher doses invlude but are not limited to excess sedation.
