A member asked:

My son has axial dystonia, with abdominal syptoms. how common is that?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not sure how common,: Not sure how common, but kids with spasticity, cerebral palsy, and similar problems may also have problems with swallowing, esophageal function, and gastro-esophageal reflux. Muscle coordination is needed to smoothly move food and drink from the mouth to throat to esophagus to stomach. The kids with heartburn pain symptoms get attention, but those with very slight symptoms may not be noticed.
