Doctor can evaluate: A primary care doctor, an ENT doctor, a neurologist, and a sleep medicine specialist can help figure out what is going on if a person has sensations of trouble swallowing while going to sleep. There could be a problem with the nerves controlling muscles in the tongue, throat, esophagus, etc... There could be other disorders (such a swelling, looseness, tumors, etc...) in those parts of the body.
