Carotid dissection: Minor trauma and physical activity have been associated with carotid artery dissection including sports, amusement park rides, even coughing or sneezing. There are various connective tissue disorders that predispose you to cad. There is less strong evidence for smoking and alcohol use, but these are good things to avoid anyways. It's frustrating b/c many times we don't know what the trigger is.
