Management: First try to understand cause or triggers. Identify early warning signs. Develop an acute management plan as soon as early signs occur. Good health habits, good sleep, relief of stress all may help. Find a medication that works for you. Work with your doctor on a good management plan.

Find the cause.: The treatment will be heavily dependent on the cause of your pain. Be aware that the headaches could potentially be related to your teeth so check with your dentist as well as a md.

Headache diary: A good start at finding potential headache triggers would be to maintain a diary. Every time you have a headache write down what you were doing, the foods you ate that day, alcohol, smoking, stress, how much sleep you had the night before, eye strain, etc. Try to find patterns in your headache so that you can learn what things to avoid. Good luck.
