Normal variation: The average menstrual period lasts from 3 to 7 days. But it is not uncommon to occasional have a period that is shorter or longer. It is also normal for the menstrual cycle to change somewhat over time - sometimes getting heavier or lighter, longer or shorter, more or less cramps, and/ or more or less clots.
