Pevent Spinal Bifida: Folic acid particularly in child bearing females is recommended to prevent spina bifida in the newborn especially during pregnancy. If you are not receiving folate (folic acid) from your usual diet, supplementals can help.

Folic acid: Folic acid is used prior to & during pregnancy to prevent development of neural tube defects. Women with heavy or long periods with iron deficiency anemia, may take Folic Acids/ multiple vitamins to build up red blood cells. It could be taken daily (especially if one was deficient).
