Yes: Yes it is safe to have a pap smear during pregnancy. In fact, that is one of the tests that is generally part of every woman's initial OB exam. The test scrapes a thin layer of cells from your cervix. This is not considered harmful with respect to the pregnancy.

Yes : It is perfectly safe and appropriate to have a pelvic exam including a pap smear during pregnancy. It does not make a difference whether or not you know you are pregnant when you have the exam. Many women do experience a small amount of spotting or bleeding after having the pap smear - again whether or not you are pregnant.
