Adv & disadvantages: The advantages are that they no longer require blood tests to monitor their effectiveness. Diadvantages: cost & safety concerns (as you would how to expect with any new drug ).

Unclear: The new med is Pradaxa unclear as to long term possible side effects, I have already seen ads on tv from lawyers.
