Better to avoid: Most doctors recommend avoiding alcohol use when taking medications, especially when side effects of the medications can be exacerbated by alcohol. For example stomach upset or drowsiness from Doxycycline and be worsened by adding alcohol. Technically there is not an absolute reason why you cannot drink but generally better to avoid until you complete your course of medication.
