My glands behind my ear are up and painful. i have the start of a sore throat. i always have glands up in my neck never behind my ear. why now ?

Lymphadenitis: Lymph nodes are the glands in neck region which drain head, throat and ears, nose and sinuses. Anytime we have infection in any of those parts of body, they tend to swell up. If the swelling ( and other symptoms--- sore throat etc) do not subside in 7-10 days, see your pcp.
