Very UNclear: Acute appendicitis is usually treated by emergency surgery. Rarely, one may perforate and have a walled-off inflammatory mass +/- abscess which is best treated by (IV) antibiotics (and abscess drainage) followed by elective appendectomy ~12 weeks later. It is unclear from your description what happened to you last week--if you haven't been seen by a general surgeon, i recommend you see one.

Hard to say: There are places where it is customary to have nonsurgical treatment as 1st line option for appendicitis, not currently considered the standard of care in the us. Even if you improved/ recovered with antibiotic, you can still get it in the future.
