No correlation: Both mononucleosis and hepatitis c (former known as non-a/non-b hepatitis) are viral illnesses, although, the two viruses are completely different ones. Mononucleosis is usually a childhood or teenage disease and is transmitted either through air droplets or direct contact, whereas hep. C virus is transmitted through affected blood/blood products and through sexual contact.

Liver inflammation: Mononucleosis usually causes some elevation in liver enzymes or liver inflammation. Since hepatitis c can be a chronic disease of the liver, having mono and hep c at the same time can cause even more liver problems than if you just had one or the other. Having hep c could decrease your immune system and put you at risk for catching mono if you come in contact with the virus.
