Compression garments: These are elastic compression garments akin to the old fashion girdle sold in department stores. Some people recommmend their use after cosmetic body contouring surgery however unlike their medical-grade counterparts they don't have zippers and can be harder to get in and out of early on after surgery.

Compressive garment: Spanx is a type of garment to compress the soft tissue of a person so that that individual appears more slim in clothing. The company makes different weights. This is an excellent garment after liposuction. A patient is swollen after surgery and may need a more loose spanx and then, as the edema decreases, may wear a tighter spanx. This helps with contracture of the soft tissue and flatten scar.
