Usually just an : Usually type of pain reaction due to local inflammation from injury. Sometimes, if a break in the skin, you may have to watch out for infection of skin or even infected bursa of which there are several of these fluid filled sacs about the knee that can also be involved. Watch out for any red streaks moving up leg or fever or any increasing heat, swelling, redness or pain in knee then see pcp.

Get evaluated: Symptoms of nerve damage can range from a numbness and tingling sensation, possibly a burning sensation, to an uncomfortable painful sensation of the extremities. For some, these symptoms are mild, while for others, they can be severe and disabling. Neuropathy can develop as a result of a pinched nerve, trauma, drug side effect, and some diseases such as diabetes. See your physician.
