Antibiotics: About 99% of the cases of c. Diff are due to the use of an antibiotic to treat another condition such as bronchitis. This is why it is important to reserve the use of antibiotics only for infections that are very likely to be bacterial, and not for every common cold, which is most likely viral, and won't respond to antibiotics. If you end up with a c diff you will need a special antibiotic for wks.
