Prevention? : Prevention in the hospital setting consists of a sequential compression device which squeezes the calf intermittently and a shot of a blood thinner. Walking is ye best prevention, but other measures are taken depending on risks factors. Treatment for a known blood clot is thinning of the blood with medication (warfarin/coumadin).
