My 6 yr old has a fever of 102 with a cough and diarrhea what could it be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possible virus: Many viruses and bacteria cause cough and fever a few are associated with diarrhea. Sometimes echovirus or adenovirus can cause this. Beware of blood in the stool, persistent high fever and/or worsening cough. These are definite signs you need to call your doctor. Keep your little one well hydrated with pedialyte and manage fevers with appropriate doses of tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin if not allergic.
