Mom has ild at 65 for an yr now.one lungs is unable to expand after contraction.can ppl survive with one lungs if functioning properly? or it spreads?

1 lung is enough but: One lung is enough, if it is a good lung, but interstitial lung disease is usually bilateral (affects both lungs). The cause is usually unknown. Sometimes it is an auto-immune disorder, or it can be due to asbestos. The lung specialists can help determine the best course of treatment.
