Blood in the urine: Blood in the urine (hematuria) can either be seen with the naked eye (this would be called gross hematuria) or it can be detected on laboratory tetsing - urine dipstick testing and microscopic analysis - this is called microscopic hematuria (or microhematuria). While there are many causes of both situations, a patient would need evaluation to rule out life threatening issues like cancer.
