What could cause swollen fingers in a newborn?

Many things: Edema of the fingers of a newborn could be from low serum protein (renal losses of protein), blocked lymphatic flow, venous obstruction on the hand or arm. A physician should carefully the fingers, wrist, and arm of the affected side.
