Pulp cap: It's called pulp cap can be direct meaning that the pulp is exposed with minimal bleeding or indirect meaning that the pulp is not exposed there is no bleeding but there is only a thin layer of dentin is covering the pulp. Pulp caping is not always successful and might end up needing root canal.

Reversible pulpitis: When you have a toothache or inflamed pulp that is hurting which can be saved, this is called reversible pulpitis. This can be treated with a pulp cap and filling. If the pulp is inflamed or infected to the point that the pulp can't be saved, this is called irreversible pulpitis and needs a root canal or extraction.
