Protein in urine: Diabetes affects kidneys in several ways, causes leakage of protein especially Albumin in the urine and causes reduction in the filtration rate of the kidneys. Over time the kidney becomes more scarred and BP becomes difficult to control. Diabetes is the most common cause of kidney disease requiring dialysis and transplantation. The earliest sign of dkd is proteinuria. As they lose function due to dkd, they cannot eliminate fluid and waste products well so they accumulate. Control of blood sugar and hypertension are important in preventing dkd. Se a nephrologist.
