Right to source: The estrogen ring puts estrogen right where you need it for vaginal dryness. There's no need to take a pill when it's your vaginal wall that needs some increased estrogen. In addition, the risks of vaginal estrogen are a lot lower than oral estrogen. The ring is a great idea for many women, as it's not as messy as some of the vaginal creams.
