Trypanosomiasis: Usually carried by an infected tsetse flies (rare mother infant transmission), this occurs in some sub-saharan african countries. The first stage is fever, headaches, joint pains and itching. When the parasite crosses into the central nervous system, there is confusion, clumsiness, and disturbed sleep. Untreated, it is eventually fatal. Most recent cases have been in democratic republic of congo.
