What's the difference between seroquel (quetiapine) and seroquel (quetiapine) xr?

Seroquel (quetiapine) XR: The xr in seroquel (quetiapine) xr means extended release. This causes the medication to be released in smaller amounts throughout a prolonged period. In doing so, the desired effect of medicine is kept at a stable level thorughtout the period that it is supposed to last.
