Normal is 60 to 100 : Heart rates slower than 60 beats per minute are considered bradycardias. Some normal people have heart rates slower than 60 like athletes. Some patients take medications called beta blockers (e.g. Lopressor) that cause slow heart rates. If your pulse is less than 50, then you should see your doctor. Slow heart rates may need a pacemaker.
