What can be done for a third degree burn?

See a surgeon: A third degree burn is serious, as it means all layers of the skin have been destroyed. In most cases, the burned tissue must be removed and the area reconstructed in some way. Details depend on burn location and size. You should see a trauma/burn surgeon or a plastic surgeon. Third degree burns represent dead tissue so infection is a real risk.

See a qualified doc: Third degree burns are serious injuries. But certainly the size of burn and its location are the factors that dictate what you should do. Any burn, no matter it's size, if located on the face, hands, gentians or feet should be seen and cared for by a burn specialist. Small burns in other areas (less than 2cm) need to be kept clean and protected. Larger burns require surgical evaluation and care.
