Some times: Esophageal cancer is a bad disease, if detected stage o possible to have 80% to 90% 5 year survival, by stage IV 2.8 %. Only way to have good out come is to to catch it when the tumor is in the superficial part of mucosa, .

Depends on stage: 5 year survival after surgery for stage i non small cell lung cancer (nsclc) is 80%. 5 year survival after treatment for stage IV is <5%.
