Is it serious to go to the hospital from alcohol?

Maybe: I think you are refering to inpatient alcohol detox? If so, it is serious from the standpoint that a person requring inpatient detox from alcohol must be a significant user of alcohol. One main reason for hospitalization has to do with supervising the person taking medication, usually around the clock for two to four days, to prevent a seizure from coming off alcohol "cold turkey.".
