How can you minimize the risk of developing dermatitis?

Hydrate your skin: While there is not a cure for eczema, there are many things you can do to take care of your skin and reduce the dryness and itching. 1. Avoid hot shower-- the hot water removes the skin’s natural protective oils 2. Use mild soaps that won't strip off natural oil from your skin. 3. Moisturize frequently. The best time to moisturize is right when you step out of the shower.

Protect: Avoid things that make you break out, soaps & wetness. Wash your hands only when necessary. Wear gloves when needed. Wear clothes made of cotton. Bathe only with a small amount of mild unscented soap, such as dove. Keep the water temperature cool or warm, not hot. Use the medicine your doctor gave you. Use a plain moisturizer daily. Avoid scratching or rubbing the itchy area. Manage stress.
