No firm rule.: Cyclophosphamide carries a risk of causing cancer. Bladder cancers and leukemia would be the most common. The risk is related to dose and duration of treatment. Case reports suggest treatment after 4-5 years may be more dangerous. If the drug is effective, the benefit may outweigh the risk, but concern should be raised if the tratment lasts more than 1-2 years.
