What are the benefits of epo?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Treating anemia: Epogen (epoetin alfa) (erythropoietin) is a hormone/protein made by the kidneys (in adults, made in liver in babies) to help stimulate the bone marrow to make the red blood cells. When you have kidney disease/renal failure, you lack this hormone and thus suffer anemia. Epo replaces this deficiency and thus helping/treating anemia. It is quite expensive. Mostly prescribed by kidney docs. Consult doc. Good luck.
