Important proteins: Epo (erythropoietin) is a key hormone (made by kidneys in adults, liver in babies) in stimulating/signalling the production of red blood cells--it is used to treat anemia in folks wth kidney failure. Interleukin-11 is a cellular protein encoded by the gene il-11 and is important is regulation of a megakaryocyte--the cell which makes platelets. Very complex processes. Have fun learning. Good luck.
