Yes.: It depends what is seen on MRI and/or knee arthroscopy. You may only have degenerative kneecap and only need to replace the knee cap.

No but okay: If you have isolated pain from arthritis in the front of your knee under the knee cap and no pain or significant arthritis in the medial or lateral compartment then isolated patellofemoral "kneecap" replacement is an option.
