A member asked:

Is it common to become severely depressed after receiving general anesthetic?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No.: It is not common but not not unusual. That is, there are many factors that cause depression and having a procedure or a general anesthetic may unmask the underlying depression. There is a very small subset of people that become depressed from the ga just as there are a small subset of women that get depressed after delivering a baby (with or w/o an anesthetic).
